Celebrating 65 Years!
Opportunities for Inclusion (formerly GWArc) celebrated our 65th Anniversary on December 12, 2021!
Participants and staff enjoyed balloons and cake to mark this milestone anniversary.
Our agency was formed in 1956 by Lawrence J. Lane, who joined with other pioneering parents devoted to advocating for community services as an alternative to institutional care for their children with developmental disabilities.
These parents not only supported each other in an era which promoted and sanctioned institutionalization, but they also organized and delivered community based education, work training, and clinical services for their children.
Gabriel M. Vonleh, CEO, makes remarks to staff members and participants attending our Virtual Day Program on Zoom during the 65th Anniversary celebration.
Lawrence J. Lane, along with a group of pioneering parents, founded Opportunities for Inclusion (formerly GWArc) in 1956.
